Brides-les-Bains, France from $1,469 p/person
Brides-Les-Bains seems perfect for those that want to be in a real, (as opposed to a purpose-built) French village out of the hustle and bustle but conveniently located near the slopes. The Olympic Gondola that took athletes to the racing venues during the 1992 Olympics still whips visitors up to Méribel.
The old spa town of Brides-les-Bains was the Olympic Village and thus home to the athletes participating in the 1992 Games. It has a real small town feel in contrast with the some of the larger resorts nearby. Brides-les-Bains works for those willing to exchange a 20-minute gondola ride for the chance to stay in a French Alpine village.

Grindelwald, Switzerland from $1,498 per person
Grindelwald beckons the skier to come visit, ski hard, and return year after year. With huge terrain and lift-linked access to Wengen and even Mürren, Grindelwald makes an exceptional place from which to explore the whole Jungfrau region.
It’s possible to ski a different ski area every day for a week.
Situated directly in the middle of the Swiss Alps, Grindelwald has a long history of skiing; there has been alpine skiing here in town for over 100 years. The major advantage of Grindelwald is the ability to ski in and out of most hotels. Great terrain, lots of snow, great aprés-ski and instead-of-skiing options – it’s hard to find a better resort to satisfy every kind of visitor.
